Governor’s House Library is proud to participate in collaborative efforts with other departments within the University as well as local cultural heritage organizations in St. Augustine.
Preservation Institute: St. Augustine (PI:SA) is an experiential learning program of the University of Florida’s Historic Preservation program. It was created to offer specialized training in the documentation of historic buildings and laboratory analysis and conservation of architectural materials and finishes. The work of PI:SA informs ongoing efforts to preserve America’s oldest city. Their materials lab and classroom space are located in Governor’s House. “Resilience: Black Heritage in St. Augustine” was a year-long collaborative project in 2021 celebrating the history and culture of Black Americans living and working in St. Augustine. This partnership between many local cultural and academic institutions delivered many virtual projects and resources that remain available to access following the project’s formal conclusion. The St. Augustine Historical Society works to interpret and preserve the history of St. Augustine through the Oldest House Museum Complex and its Research Library. Governor’s House Library works with the Historical Society on a number of initiatives, including the St. Augustine Film Series and other events throughout the year. The St. Augustine Archival Society is a consortium of local cultural heritage institutions and its professionals in an effort to better serve patrons in understanding St. Augustine’s history. Through monthly meetings and information exchanges, the group is able to collaborate on events, projects, and initiatives.
